At the Whitworth Gallery they had a piece by Colin Self. I am really interested in the way he used his text to create impact. It really hit home. He combined it with supporting imagery and a little bit of text explaining the imagery. 
The picture is a an old advert, advertising the first electric chairs that were designed to eradicate ‘negros’. He listed: let me sell you an electrical toothbrush, electrical kettle, electrical.. etc etc.. then ending with, let me sell you an electrical chair, placing it in an everyday context, suggesting the shocking reality of it being such an everyday occurrence of that time. It was quite shocking and it really hit home. I could perhaps use a similar technique? Say with the porn industry… However I want to move away from text, and be brave enough to use imagery.
